Encounter Sports Hockey Camps are designed to help athletes grow both on and off the ice. Our experienced coaching staff uses a combination of individual instruction, small-group work, and full-group drills to help each player develop greater confidence and skill in their game.
Throughout the week, coaches focus on helping players build on their strengths while also identifying areas for improvement. Athletes are encouraged and challenged in a positive environment that emphasizes learning proper technique, building confidence, and developing a strong work ethic.
Our strong coach-to-player ratio allows coaches to provide meaningful instruction in key hockey fundamentals, including skating, passing, puck control, and shooting. Beyond skill development, we are committed to developing the whole athlete, mind, body, and spirit.
Encounter Sports camps are open to players of all skill levels and are part of our mission to build confident, resilient young people through sport, mentorship, and a supportive faith-inspired environment.
Our full-day hockey camps in July provide a comprehensive development experience designed to help athletes grow in their skills, confidence, and understanding of the game. Players will receive approximately 15 hours of ice time during the week, with sessions focused on skating, puck control, passing, shooting, and game situations.
Our coaching staff works closely with players to reinforce proper technique while creating a positive environment that encourages effort, improvement, and enjoyment of the game.
Players will participate in multiple on-ice sessions throughout the week designed to build strong fundamentals and game awareness. Drills focus on skating mechanics, puck control, passing, shooting, and situational play. Coaches provide a mixture of individual instruction, small-group teaching, and full-ice drills to help players gain confidence and improve their overall game.
Off-ice time is designed to keep players active, engaged, and having fun while continuing to develop as athletes. Activities may include team sports such as street hockey or basketball, team-building challenges, and age-appropriate physical training.
These sessions help players build athleticism, teamwork, and friendships while enjoying a full camp experience.
Each day includes short classroom sessions focused on helping players grow in their understanding of the game and themselves as athletes. Topics include hockey IQ, leadership, teamwork, character development, faith, and personal health. These sessions are designed to equip players with tools that will help them both on and off the ice.
Camp Days are from approximately 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.
Full hockey equipment is required for all on-ice sessions.
Registration includes a 2026 Encounter Sports Hockey Camp jersey.
Players should bring a bagged lunch Monday through Friday. Microwaves will be available for players to heat food if needed.
All players are to be dropped off each morning at a designated rink in Sherwood Park. Our camp utizlies multiple rinks, but bussing will be provided from Millennium Place to assigned rink. Bussing is also provided during the day between rinks and Heartland Alliance Church for off-ice activities.
Please note that all age groups, including both players and goalies, will come together for afternoon activities and the end-of-week tournament, as has traditionally been part of our July Day Camps.

This camp is designed to help players prepare for the upcoming hockey season by rebuilding their routine, improving conditioning, and sharpening their skills prior to the start of the school year. It is an excellent way for athletes to get back into hockey structure after the summer while building confidence and momentum heading into fall evaluations and team tryouts.
Each player will receive approximately 12 hours of on-ice development throughout the week, with sessions focused on skating, puck skills, shooting, and game situations.

Our August Skills and Specialty Camps are designed to help players sharpen key fundamentals and prepare for the upcoming hockey season. These focused sessions emphasize core skills such as balance, agility, edge control, skating mechanics, puck control, passing, and shooting while building confidence and game readiness. Camps include skill-specific sessions, high-intensity pre-season conditioning skates, goalie-specific training, power skating development, and a checking camp to help players learn body contact safely and effectively. Each session is designed to provide a high-tempo learning environment with quality instruction and limited group sizes. These camps are a great way for players to fine-tune their skills, build conditioning, and enter tryouts feeling prepared and confident.

Goalies will work through a mix of goalie-specific drills and controlled shooting situations to rebuild timing, sharpen technique, and regain game rhythm ahead of preseason skates and tryouts. This camp is designed to introduce and build a strong foundation for body contact in hockey. Players will learn proper techniques for giving and receiving contact while emphasizing safety, balance, and body positioning. Instruction will focus on combining strong skating and puck skills with the fundamentals of safe and effective contact in game situations. Skills will be demonstrated and then broken down into key components so players can understand how to protect themselves, maintain control, and play with confidence.
Players will receive approximately 2.5 hours of ice time each day, allowing for both detailed instruction and controlled drills where athletes can gradually become comfortable with contact while developing the habits needed for safe, effective play. Off the ice, players will also participate in video sessions before and after some on-ice blocks to review technique, understand body positioning, and reinforce the key concepts being taught throughout the camp. Players will receive a 2026 summer jersey.
These pre-season conditioning sessions are designed to help players get back into game rhythm as they prepare for upcoming evaluations and tryouts. Each session will be high-tempo and focused on flow, pace, and skill execution, challenging players to compete and perform in a fast-paced environment.
Players may register for a single one-hour session or multiple sessions throughout the week.

Space is limited in each time slot to maintain a high-quality training environment, with a maximum of 15 skaters per group. Sessions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Refund Policy
Over 30 days prior to camp start date: Full refund of total camp costs paid minus a $15 administration fee.
14–30 days prior to camp start date: 50% refund of total camp costs.
Within 14 days of camp: No refund.
Additional Options
Camp Transfer: If your child cannot attend, registration may be transferred to another participant of similar age and skill or another camp session (if space is available).
Medical/Injury Exception: If a participant cannot attend due to illness or injury, a camp credit toward a future camp may be issued with a doctor’s note.
Program Cancellation: If a camp is unexpectedly cancelled by the organizer due to extenuating circumstances, a full refund will be issued.
Missed Days: Days missed due to personal scheduling conflicts are nonrefundable.
