ES Lions 2025 Spring Hockey – High Performance

This experience mirrors Encounter Sport’s successful format from last year, providing a holistic development opportunity for athletes focused on skill development, leadership, confidence, and character both on and off the ice.

Program Overview

• Team Structure: One Gold or Silver team per age group (2008-2013) will be formed, provided there are enough players at the competitive level. A second Gold or Silver team may also be considered for each age group if sufficient interest exists. These teams will compete in AA/AAA-level tournaments, and players will be selected to ensure each team's success. Teams will have full rosters of 17-18 players and two goalies.
• Season Duration: April to mid-June.
• Weekly Ice Sessions:
  • Weekly Practice: 1-2 practices focusing on developing hockey skills such as skating, passing, scoring, and game strategy.
  • Exhibition Games: Organized on weekends, playing against other local spring teams as available to prepare for tournaments.
  • Tournaments: Participation in 2-3 spring tournaments within Alberta.
• Off-Ice Training:
  • Weekly Training: Dedicated off-ice sessions focused on strength,       conditioning, and agility.
  • Goalie Development: Specific training and coaching for goalies throughout the program.
  • Player Workshops: Emphasizing leadership, self-confidence, courage, and character, helping players grow as people, not just athletes.
• Special  Events:
  • As the opportunity arises, team fun events will be available at the coach’s discretion. 
  • A year-end team retreat to celebrate the season, reflect on personal and team growth and build community with teammates.
• Investment:
  • TBD: Approximately $1450
  • Includes jersey, pant shells, socks, team hoodie, two tournament fees, ice rentals, off-ice training, team events, year-end retreat, officials, and coaching.
  • Payment plans are available.
  • Team members will be required to participate in one organization-wide fundraiser, and additional fundraising may be needed based on additional team decisions regarding tournaments and games.
