rules

  1. Games will start every twenty minutes beginning at the designated starting time.
  2. 8 minute run time halves with a 2 minute halftime break (stop time may be used for playoffs as the schedule allows).
  3. If tied after regulation, the game will end in a tie.
  4. Each player gets 3 fouls per game before they are subbed off permanently for the remainder of the game.
  5. Points will be awarded for 2 point shots and 3 point shots.
  6. Free throws will be awarded for all shooting fouls.
    1. The fouled player will shoot 1 free throw which will count for the amount of the shot (1 shot worth 2 points for a 2 point foul, 1 shot worth 3 points for a 3 point shot foul).
    2. The exception for this is when there is an and-one play. In this case the basket will count and the fouled player will shoot one free throw worth one (1) point.
  7. A 24 second shot clock is in effect at the referee’s count.
  8. FIBA rules will be used unless otherwise stated.

Additions to General Rules:

Out of bounds:

  • If the ball touches the base of the hoop in any way it is deemed out of bounds.
  • Referees will award possession at the place the ball goes out of bounds. If possession can’t be awarded at that location for any reason, the referee will choose a spot closest to the point where the ball went out of bounds and award the possession there.

Technical fouls:

  • Technical fouls are assessed for anything that is not a basketball play (taunting, profanity, intentional delay of game, retaliation, etc.)
  • A technical foul interrupts the game and one free throw is awarded to the other team worth one point. The game then resumes.

Substitutions:

  • Teams may substitute on the fly if their team has possession and the player coming off makes physical contact (e.g. high fives) the player coming on.

Tiebreaker in standings:

  • Most wins
  • Head to head record (between all teams involved)
  • Points for and against (between all teams involved)
  • Coin Toss
