We’re back with our fifth annual Encounter Sports Street Hockey Tournament—bigger, better, and as fun as ever! This event welcomes players of all skill levels for a week of exciting 4-on-4 street hockey action. With co-ed divisions from U9 to U21, players can sign up with a full team or register as a free agent. It’s a great way to compete, connect, and support a cause—all proceeds go directly to Encounter Sports summer programming.

Location: East Parking - Heartland Alliance Church

Sign up as a team (8 max) or as a free agent. Free agents will be assigned by Encounter Sports coaches to their own team or if a registered team is looking for additional players.


Please register for the age division your child will be in this fall.


Cost per person: $25. There are limited spots in each age division.


Registrations will be taken right up until 15 minutes before the group start time. Walk-up registrations will be accepted.


Families are encouraged to stay and cheer teams on and enjoy additional activities like:

  • Concession (bring money to spend)
  • Prizes
  • Music
  • Additional Fun Activities

game play

  • 4 on 4
  • All teams will play five to six 10-minute run-time games (depending on the number of teams that register).
  • Shifts will be timed.
  • Pinnies provided unless team has their own jerseys they would like to wear.

equipment

  • All players U9-U15 must wear helmets
  • U9-U15 – full face shield required
  • U18/U21 – Helmets with visor is recommended
  • Players need to bring their own stick
  • Gloves and protective cup are highly recommended
  • Goalies must wear at a minimum (protective cup, full helmet, blocker, catcher, pads, and chest protector). We will have a few loaners, but we recommend that goalies bring their equipment.

  • Points for games:

                        Wins = 3 Points

                        Ties = 2 Points

                        Losses = 1 Point

  • Face off to start gameplay.
  • Must give half after goals.
  • If a ball goes out of play, a new ball will be placed at the point of ball exit. The defending team will give five feet.
  • The opposing team must give ten feet when the goalie covers the ball.
  • All minor penalties will be penalty shots with players chasing on the whistle.
  • All major penalties (including intent to teameachjure or fighting will result in immediate ejection).
  • Any abuse or disrespect of officials will not be tolerated.
  • Individual players will be capped at five goals maximum per game.
  • A maximum goal spread of five will be counted towards goal differential. 
  • There is no overtime in round-robin play. The game will end in a tie.
  • Games are run-time except for the last three minutes of playoff games, where the clock will stop for balls out of bounds and penalty shots. 
  • If a game is tied in a playoff game, it will have a sudden-death three-minute overtime followed by a shootout with three players shooting from both teams. If the game is still tied after overtime and the initial shootout, it will go to a sudden-death shootout with one player from each team shooting. No player can shoot twice until all players on the team have shot.
  • Tiebreaker in standings:

                         Most wins

                         Head to head

                         Goal differential

                         Coin toss
